Sabarimala Verdict - Why it is wrong?

A Constitutional Bench of Supreme Court has declared banning entry of certain section of women in Sabarimala Temple as violation of the Constitution and Fundamental Rights of Women. While some women hail the decision as victory of Women Rights, but others have condemn Supreme Court's decision as attack against faith of people.

But why it is wrong?

First of all, I am an atheist, and I don't believe in religion and God. But it does not give me right to prevent other people to profess their religion.

Secondly, Religion is irrational. It is based on edifice of superstition, faith, beliefs and mythologies. So if you are a religious person, you will accept all these things of your religion.

Third, Temple is a religious place, so you should visit there only if you are a religious person. But, if you want to visit a temple to gaze at its architectural beauty, or to enjoy its view, then you need to behave as it is expected from a religious person.

In case of Sabarimala, issue is very simple. Temple is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa who is Nashtik Brahmachari (Eternal Celibate) and it is expected from its devotees to appear as such.

It is a belief and mythology with no rational explanation but a devotee of Lord Ayyappa will accept it.

Now if you are women between age of 10 and 50 years, you will have two possibilities:

  1. You are a rational person, who don't believe in this mythology. In that case, you don't need to visit temple as temple is to profess your religion.
  2. You are a religious person, you will accept all these mythologies, and so you yourself won't visit the temple, as you believe in these traditions.

So all the protests which is happening in Kerala is illogical and so does SC decision.

Feminist Resolution Tool Kit For 2019 - Humanized version!!

I have always believed that third wave feminism is neither desirable, nor suitable for India. This post is answer to an Article by Simran Kaur titled "Feminist Resolution Tool Kit for 2019" posted on website feminisminindia.com. Let use try to make her resolutions more pragmatic which can actually help our society.

1. Listen to Learn:

  • When a woman speak for herself, we should listen, have sympathy, but should bot believe in her story without any evidences. Learning is not only about listening, its about analyzing and searching for truth.

2. Acknowledge Intersectionality:
  • When a man is socially abused and boycotted when a woman accused him on social media, it shows that feminism is itself women-centric. A person should not viewed form mirror of caste, gender, class, religion, sexuality etc rather S/he should be viewed individually.

3. Read to Sensitize yourself:
  • Not only read to find arguments to support your cause of feminism, rather read to find solution of injustice happening in our society to an individual. Reading is not only to become philosopher or intellectual, it should be to equip our self in fight against injustice.

4. Self Care is not Selfish:

  • It indeed is not selfish. If you are putting your needs ahead of others, its not bad. But you should not feel upset, if other person is doing the same.

5. Celebrate your sexuality:

  • Sexually should be celebrated and everyone can demand for it in consensual manner. But along with consent, contract should not be broken. If you trying to have relationship outside marriage, or relationship, you can't justify it as consensual, because in process you are breaking a contract. If you are unhappy with that contract, get out of it, but not break it.

6. Acceptance of beauty - As it is:

  • "Beauty is in eye of beholder", so women or men should not run towards beauty standards put forward by bollywood or hollywood. But Regular exercise, yoga is necessary for being fit. It may take toll on your daily schedule, but being healthy will help you in long term. Being over weight or under weight, are problematic and may lead to various diseases

7. Cherish female friendships:

  • Cherish friendships regardless of gender, race, caste, religion or sexuality. Friends is some one with whom you can share your happiness and sadness. Chemistry should match rather than gender.

8. Unlearn constantly:

  • The most important thing which should be unlearned is third and fourth wave feminism itself. Its not about women empowerment rather than its about hatred against men. While we should strive for equality of opportunity to an individual, we should also focus on gender uniqueness and gender complementarity.
